On Friday, February 14, Tana Rivera and Claudia Romero presented their first collection “Herencia” exclusively in our showroom.
The collection is inspired by the aesthetic and symbolic richness of their family history, exploring iconic elements of Spanish culture and reinterpreting them with a contemporary vision. In short, it is an “autobiographical” collection that tells the story of their roots and childhood.
During the presentation, they revealed the sentimental and cultural inspiration behind “Herencia”: “I wanted to draw inspiration from my grandmothers, from Andalusia, from Seville... and from the bond that my whole family has with this region.”
“Herencia” brings together Tana’s cultural and emotional legacy, taking shape in garments that her grandmothers, the Duchess of Alba and Carmiña Ordoñez, would undoubtedly wear. Timeless two-piece sets, made up of short bullfighter-style jackets and high-waisted trousers, are inspired by the strength of the Amazons and the bullfighting influences of her childhood.
Striped fabrics and colorful prints take inspiration from the joy and festive spirit that fills Seville in spring with the arrival of the April Fair. These pieces coexist with more dramatic and solemn designs that represent respect for tradition and the designer’s cultural heritage.
The strong influence of her paternal grandmother in this project is evident throughout much of the collection, which incorporates fabrics and embellishments linked to Goyaesque tradition.
Every piece in “Herencia” is designed to become a key garment, whether to elevate casual outfits or to attend the most elegant events. In the designer’s words, the entire collection stands out for its versatility: “you can mix and match all the pieces in different ways and they will always work well.”
The collection is not aimed exclusively at young women but seeks to be present in the wardrobes of grandmothers, mothers, and daughters alike. “The essence of my maternal grandmother is also reflected, because I want my collection to accompany girls and women in fun and beautiful moments. She was the most fun, she enjoyed herself everywhere… I know that if she were here, she would wear them all,” Tana said with emotion.
For the entire process of creating and producing Herencia, they have committed to national production: “we made sure everything was produced one hundred percent in Spain, almost all of it in Madrid, and everything handmade,” Claudia explained.
